“Science deals with the objective world, whereas spirituality deals with the subjective world—the essence of one’s existence. The former is all about the seen—the world. The latter is entirely about the seer—the indwelling self, without which the diverse world of names and forms does not exist.”

—Amma (Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi)

What is Tattvabodha?

This ancient scripture is a traditional Sanskrit text. It is an excellent, succinct primer for the study of Advaita. It discusses key philosophical and metaphysical concepts from Sanatana Dharma, including:

• Requisite mental preparation for spiritual inquiry
• Analysis of the body-mind complex and its discernment from the True Self
• Analysis of the universe and its unfoldment from God
• The inherent oneness of the True Self and God
• The attainment of liberation through knowledge in this life itself

About the Instructor

Brahmachari Sachinmayamrita Chaitanya

Brahmachari Sachinmayamrita Chaitanya is from the United States. He met Amma there in 1998 and moved to Amma’s Amritapuri Ashram in 2000.

At Amma’s encouragement, Br. Sachinmayamrita has been studying the scriptures since the beginning of his days in the Ashram, and this has been an important part of his spiritual life ever since.

Through down-to-earth language, he brings the scriptures to life, connecting the ancient texts of India with Amma's teachings and our own daily life.

So very well explained

The cooking sessions are very well explained and the camera-work really is excellent.

I can see—and nearly feel —exactly how the added ingredients are looking in the pot/pan.

I am very happy.

I can hear the birds

One thing I like most: I can hear the birds and animals in Amritapuri in the background. How lovely that is! - sitting on a sofa in Berlin...

A virtual holy space

I took the Ganjira course at Amrita Virtual Academy — a virtual holy space inspired by Amma. The effort was worth it to grow closer to Amma’s teachings and the feelings of inner spiritual presence this musical sadhana offers.

A great inner companion

Bhajans are a great inner companion — always offering positive thoughts and vibrations — in contrast with what we sometimes have to hear when living in the world. Immersing ourselves in bhajans is like wearing a shield!

Sweet

Learning an instrument is a very easy and sweet way to keep your mind on God all day, because you go so deep into the lesson that you can spend a great part of the day delving into the bhajan you are studying that week.
