Introduction

Amma says that it is good to dedicate at least one day a month entirely to your Sadhana.

  • About Bhakti

Amma says in this day and age, Bhakti or Devotion, is the most practical spiritual sadhana.

Bhakti, or devotion, is the practical way of getting rid of sorrows. Bhakti is a practical science. Bhakti is not blind superstitious belief. It is this faith that removes darkness from our hearts. Not only does it help us unburden our heart, it also amplifies our sense of righteousness and inspires us to be compassionate towards the distressed. Devotion to God and compassion for the world are but two sides of the same coin.

  • Benefits

Amma also says that it is Tattwatille Bhakti—Devotion based on true understanding—that needs to be practiced. When we start on the path of Bhakti we start receiving the fruits of the practice almost immediately.

This series of Bhakti retreats will explore the path of Bhakti based on the most ancient and revered text, The Narada Bhakti Sutras. There will be Q&A sessions after the satsangs. The retreat will also consist of guided devotional practices like the chanting of the 108 Names of Amma, Manasa Puja (mental worship), and the Ma-Om Meditation.

  • How Does It Work?

The intention of this online retreat is to provide you with an experience similar to those who take it at Amritapuri Ashram.

This retreat was originally offered in a 2-day retreat format. It is highly recommended that you also follow a 2-day retreat format for a more immersive experience. This will allow for a continued flow in learning that will facilitate easier absorption of the material. You can then review and replay the material as needed.

Suggested Requirements

Our instructor, Swami Atmananda Puri, has made these suggestions, to follow as you are able:

  • Please acquire an Archana book to chant the 108 Names of Amma. The Archana book is available for purchase at The Amma Shop. The Archana is also available on the free Amma app for Android and iPhone.

  • Please listen to the two talks by Swami Atmananda Puri on, The Narada Bhakti Sutras, available on the Amritapuri (Youtube) channel. The retreat Satsangs will be a continuation of these talks.

  • It is recommended to follow the 2-day retreat format, setting aside 4 hours on each day to do the retreat.

Schedule

While the retreat is self-paced, it is recommended to follow the 2-day retreat format. A 2-day retreat format* could look like:

Morning Session:

  • 2 hours of video Satsang
  • Guided Sadhana with Swamiji: 108 Names of Amma, Manasa Puja
  • Q&A session with Swamiji

Afternoon Session:
