Omkara Divya Porule is a poetic rendition of Amma’s teachings by Swami Turiyamritananda Puri. As a teenager, Swamiji—then known as “Puja Ooni,” or simply “Ooni”—came to what is now the Amritapuri ashram, when it was still Amma’s small family home. Unable to be persuaded to leave Amma’s side, he became the ashram’s first resident.
Hearing Amma share profound teachings with visiting devotees, Swamiji felt these gems of wisdom should be preserved. He began recording Amma’s words and later putting them into verse. The teachings encompass Selfless Action, Devotion, and the path of Knowledge rooted in Non-dual philosophy. The Mahavakya of "Omkara Divya Porule" expresses their essence:
You are the divine essence of OM.
The first volume was released in 1985 for Amma’s 32nd birthday, and new collections of verses have continued to be offered for Amma’s birthday over the years. Some of the verses have also been set to music, including the original Omkara Divya Porule bhajan, bringing these teachings to life through song.
