Introduction

“My dear Children, Bhagavad Gītā is the essence of all the Vedas and its message is for the entire humanity.” - Amma

  • About The Gītā in a Day Retreat - Chapter 2

Amma has been emphasizing the study and practice of the principles in the Bhagavad Gītā as a means of spiritual sadhana.

This spiritual dialogue between Lord Krishna and the warrior prince Arjuna in the battlefield, just prior to the onset of the massive Mahabharata war, contains the soul resuscitating wisdom of Santana Dharma expounded in practical day-to-day life terms.

It would not be an exaggeration if we say that the Gītā gives us the most comprehensive solutions on how to lead a spiritual life in the world.

In this Gītā-in-a-Day Retreat, we will understand the structure of the second chapter of the Gītā, explore the deep significance of certain selected verses, and become familiar with the traditional chanting of the Gītā verses.

  • Benefits

Having grasped the spiritual principles espoused in the Gītā, we will be better equipped to understand, appreciate and actualize the depth of Amma's simple and yet life transforming teachings.

Spiritual practitioners are normally overwhelmed by the wealth of spiritual guidance in each of the chapters of the Gītā. The second chapter of the Gītā consists of 72 verses.

This retreat will help participants understand the structure and essence of the second chapter, with an in-depth explanation of selected verses.

The chanting of the verses of the Gītā in the traditional manner is a practice which will lead us into the deep inner meditative space.
