You may already be familiar with some of the Sanskrit root words!

 

"Pancha" is used in "pancha karma" to describe the five healing treatments (actions) used in Ayurveda

 

"Mata" is part of Amma's formal name: Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi

 

"Mata" is regularly used in many Devi bhajans, such as: dayakaro mata, mata rani, and more!

 

"Mata" is in the phrase called out at the end of Amma's daily evening bhajans: "Mata rani ki!" (Victory to the Queen Mother)

More Sanskrit Tips

Here are a few more instances:

 

"Deha" also refers to a form or shape that is kneaded and is related to the English word "dough"

 

"Bhu" is also used in "bhumi devi", a Sanskrit name of the Earth Goddess and in "Bhuvanesh" which means "Lord of the world".

 

"Go" can also be pronounced "gau"—the "g" and "k" sounds are similar in languages—so when "gau" becomes "kau", you can its relation to the English word "cow".

 

Other Sanskrit words you may already know that use "go": Gopal (cow herd or protector of cows), "Gopi" (female cow herds of Vrindavan)
